22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
Licensing Inspector arrived at 9:38am and departed at 11:30AM to conduct a monitoring Inspection. At the time of the tour there were 74 children in care with 23 staff present. Children were observed on the playground, playing sensory activities, and being read a story. Infants were observed being fed, in cribs and playing on the floor with staff. A sample of 7 staff and 7 children's records were reviewed in addition to 4 medications and 2 over-the-counter skin products.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. In the 3 year-old room the hand washing sink had rust around the metal ring. The rust came off when the inspector wiped the area with a tissue. 2. In the 2 year-old room there was peeling paint on the wall above the children's light table. Plan of Correction: This will be completed by 9/1/2017. This was already in progress and waiting on estimates. Safety captain will do daily walkthroughs to check for compliance on facilities. Any deficiencies will be reported to management who will take appropriate steps within 24 hours. Management will do routine inspections to ensure compliance. DM will periodically inspect.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure hazardous substances were in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the 4 year-old room there was a cabinet above the hand washing sink that had a broken lock. There was 1 bottle of bleach, 2 bottles of disinfectant sprays and 1 bottle of glass cleaner. Plan of Correction: Safety captain will do daily safety check, and report to management person in charge any safety issues. management person in charge will take appropriate steps to fix within 24 hours and will follow up with teachers or Safety Captain any additional on how to handle the safety issue or concern until it can be corrected/ repaired. District Manager will follow up on safety checks during visits.
