Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:15am-1:00pm. There were 30 children directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed taking a walk to drop off mail to friends and family, listening to a book, having outdoor water play, and preparing for lunch. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center did not sure all equipment was maintain in a clean condition. Evidence: In the starfish room, one sleeping mat had a rip in it and therefore it can no longer be sanitized properly.

Plan of Correction: The ripped sleeping mat was removed and a new sleeping mat was placed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not keep all hazardous substances such as cleaning materials using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the shared bathroom area above the starfish toilet, disinfectant wipes were placed in an upper cabinet which was not locked.

Plan of Correction: The disinfectant wipes were removed. Also, a lock was placed on the upper cabinet.
