An announced monitoring inspection was completed on 08/22/2017. There were 10 children, ages 3 years-4 years, and 2 staff present during today inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children's records during the inspection. The two staff records have been previously reviewed during a record inspection at the PCCA Administrative Office. There are no medications being administered at this facility. The children were observed in the following activities: music and movement, story time, breakfast and teeth brushing. Proper table sanitization and hand washing were observed before and after the meal service. This facility utilizes a large outdoor green space for outside play and does not have a playground. The inspector reviewed the facility's emergency procedures to include the shelter-in-place, the emergency supplies and documentation of the required emergency practice drills. The inspector discussed the following with the program staff: reminder that the health and fire inspections will be due soon, first aid kit requirements and the meal service program. The inspector arrived at 8:20 a.m. and departed at 10:45 a.m. An exit interview took place at the conclusion of the inspection to discuss the findings of today's inspection. Thank you for your time today. If you have any questions please contact Becky Forestier at 540-309-2835.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that all cleaning and sanitizing material shall not be located above single-service articles. Evidence: The closest used for the storage of the the first-aid kit, emergency supplies and cleaning materials contains a shelving unit. Inside the closet and on the shelving unit there were various cleaning products (such as a spray bottle of Kaboom Cleaner, a spray bottle of bleach and water, a gallon of bleach, and other various cleaning supplies) located on the top shelf of the shelving unit, the shelf located directly below the cleaning materials contained single-service items (2 boxes of tissues and paper towels). Plan of Correction: The single-service items were moved during the inspection to the top shelf. The program staff stated that the single-service items were donated and should not have been put in that closet as there is a separate closet for the storage of single-service items in the classroom.
