- Technical Assistance:
We discussed allergy issues; physical environment and new regulations for background checks.
An unannounced monitoring inspection took place today from 11:00 - 2:30 pm. There were five classes present with 51 children. I observed children cleaning up after a painting project; preparing for lunch; discussing weekend events and cars; and a smooth transition to napping to soothing music. Records and children's medications were well-organized. If you have any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-140-A Description: Based on a review of children's records today, one child did not have a physical exam as required. Evidence: Child # 1, who has been in care since 3/17, did not have available a physical examination. Plan of Correction: I will ask the mom to get the physical in by the end of the week.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: During today's inspection, some areas and equipment of the center were observed not to be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition as required. Evidence: Outdoors: A bracket holding a drainage pipe was loose, with the two screws unattached at child height. A plastic border surrounding the mulch on one of the playgrounds was observed to have cracks in it. Two tricycles were observed to have a handlebar cover missing. A table used by the children had a sharvp and broken cover. A panel of the play equipment was shakey. Indoors: In the school-aged room, a light fixture cover was obsered to have a crack. Under the sink in one preschool room, a loose screw and pipes were accessible. Plan of Correction: I will contact facilities immediately. Work orders have already been placed for all the issues on the playground, the bike handles have been order and the bikes are now not accessible; the facilities' tech is scheduled to replace the light covers. I will put a work order in for under the sink.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: During today's inspection, some hazardous substances were observed to be an unlocked area. Evidence: The kitchen door was unlocked, and there were cleaning chemicals observed unlatched in a cabinet and on the wall. Plan of Correction: I will retrain the kitchen staff in storing materials, including the cleaning chemicals on the wall in the kitchen.
