The following inspection took place between the hours of 10 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the Loudoun Valley Community Center located in the town of Purcellville, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 12 children with 2 staff; good ratios in the one room. A total of 5 children?s files were reviewed. Staff files were reviewed previously during the annual file inspection conducted at the PRCS main office in Ashburn. The children were engaged in the following: circle time, song, large motor activities on the playground, bathroom breaks, hand washing, lunch, and other organized activities. There was also an open house going on at the same time for the licensed preschool program that opens next week. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, an outside piece of center equipment was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (09/01/2017, the rubberized coating that covers the set of metal steps that are attached to the stand alone sliding board located on the child care playground showed signs of chipping. 2. The chipped coating was observed in the area where the top step meets the platform. It is unclear whether the chipping was caused due to its age, the weather, children picking at it or a combination of all three. 3. The children enrolled in the child care program were using this slide at the time of observation. Plan of Correction: A picture of this area will be sent to maintenance. In the meantime, the area shall be taped over to prevent access by the children in care.
