63.2 Facilities and Programs..

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was completed on 09/07/2017. There were 26 children, ages 3 years-4 years, and 4 staff providing direct supervision present during today?s inspection. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records, staff records have been previously reviewed at the off-site storage location. There is no medication being administered at this time. The children were observed in the following activities: show and tell, center play, story time, music and movement, and during a Family Style Dining lunch. The updated emergency preparedness plans as well as emergency supplies and the transportation requirements/buses were reviewed during this inspection. The inspector observed proper hand washing and table sanitization before lunch. The inspector discussed the use of an alternate outdoor play space in the event of a soggy greenspace. An exit conference took place at the conclusion of today?s inspection to discuss areas of non-compliance. The inspector arrived at 10:15 a.m. and departed at 1:45 p.m. Thank you for your time today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-C
Description: Based on observations and discussion with staff, the facility failed to ensure that the first aid kits included the minimum requirements. Evidence: 1. The first-aid kit for Bus #16 did not contain scissors, tweezers, adhesive tape, a thermometer and a first-aid instruction manual. 2. The first-aid kit for Bus #25 did not contain scissors, tweezers, adhesive tape, a thermometer and a first-aid instruction manual. 3. Staff stated that they do not use the complete classroom first-aid kits during transportation on a regular basis; the complete classroom first-aid kit would only be taken in the event of a child having emergency medication.

Staff stated that they do not use the complete classroom first-aid kits during transportation on a regular basis; the complete classroom first-aid kit would only be taken in the event of a child having emergency medication.
