- Technical Assistance:
1. New background check requirements were reviewed to include the current sworn statement of affirmation and out of state CPS check requests for any staff who have resided in another state within the past five years. 2. All staff are required to report any suspicion of abuse & neglect within 24-hours of having suspicion of abuse/neglect. 3. The licensing process and inspection protocol was discussed. 4. General Procedures and Information for Licensure was reviewed - specifically the posting of the current license and the findings of the most recent inspection of the facility. The following areas of CDC standards were reviewed with the administrator: 1. Standard 350.E.7 (balanced mixed age group ratio) was reviewed in addition to the definition of balanced mixed age groupings. 2. Standard 210.A.4 - Program leader qualifications 3. Standard 70.A - Staff records shall contain all of the required elements of 1 -8. 4. Standard 270.A - Building maintenance - the missing brick at the playground exit steps should be replaced before this becomes a safety hazard. Additionally, the hole near the playground slide should be filled in to avoid a trip hazard. 5. Standard 330.B - Resilient surfacing is needed around the outdoor play structure (castle/slide/swings) Fall zones and resilient surfacing discussed & area measured. The administrator has stated this structure will not be used by children in the licensed program until resilient surfacing is added. The same technical assistance was provided for the small "step two" slide. ++Use (fall) zones and resilient surfacing information is located in the appendix of the CDC standards. (Attachment VII) 10. Standard 580 - Transportation and field trips 11. Standard 440.E - Cot spacing 12. Standard 380.A - There shall be a posted daily schedule 13. Standard 550.C - Shelter-in-place maps shall be posted in a location conspicuous to staff and children.
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 09/22/2017 from 9:30am - 1:00pm. There were no children in care as the facility is not open. Child day center standards in the areas of staff-to-child ratio, supervision, care of children, behavior guidance, hand washing, nutrition, napping, program & activities and outdoor play could not be determined at there are no children in care. Indoor and outdoor space that will be utilized by children was measured and inspected. The inspector reviewed the following: physical plant, outdoor play area, written policies & procedures & forms, equipment, emergency supplies, four children's records and background checks for staff.
