Reviewed all current and upcoming changes to background check procedures. Information regarding background check procedures is only communicated via email.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 84 children in care, with a total of 13 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, new staff records, the indoor and outdoor physical plant, emergency preparedness items, and children's medication were all inspected today. The children were observed engaging in creative play activities, creating various Fall art projects including making apple trees, painting pictures, assembling puzzles, and eating snack from home. This inspection was completed between approximately 9:25 am and 11:00 am. Thank you for meeting with me today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two potentially hazardous substances were not locked. Evidence: 1. In the Pups classroom, a container of cleaning wipes was stored inside an upper level unlocked cabinet. 2. In the Pandas classroom, a spray bottle of cleaning solution was stored inside an upper level unlocked cabinet. Plan of Correction: 1. That cabinet is only used by the Sunday School staff. Our PS staff will begin making sure it is locked when we are using the classroom. The cabinet was immediately locked during the inspection. 2. The cleaner was immediately moved to a locking cabinet during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that two medications were on site without a completed authorization form as required. Evidence: One child has two non-prescription medications on site. There was no medication authorization form for either of these medications. Plan of Correction: The parent will be asked to complete and return an authorization form.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-F Description: Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that one non-prescription medication was on site without the required packaging. Evidence: One child's non-prescription medication was on site without the original container with the direction label attached. Plan of Correction: The parent will be asked to bring the bottle for the medication.
