An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Thursday, September 21, 2017, from approximately 11:00am until 2:50pm. Present today were three infants with one staff, seven children (3 and 4yrs) with one staff, six pre-k children with one staff and two school age children. Some of the children were playing outside on the fenced playground when the inspector arrived. The pre-k children were playing with trains, pretending in dramatic play and working on an art project. Later children were observed looking at books, singing songs and preparing for lunch and nap.
Lunch today : Chicken patty sandwiches, beans, applesauce and milk
A practice evacuation drill was conducted 8/11/17. A practice shelter-in-place drill was conducted 8/25/17.
Five children 's records and five staff records were inspected.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-A
Description: Based on inspection of the center's vehicle used to transport children, all first aid supplies were not present as required. Evidence: The vehicle used on Thursday, September 21, 2017, did not have a first aid kit.

Plan of Correction: Per Center: The vehicle to be used in the future has a complete first aid kit.

Description: Based on observations, the center did not ensure all children under the age of eight years used safety/booster seats when being transported by the center. Also, during transportation, the vehicle must have emergency numbers, the center's name, address, and phone number and a list of children being transported. Evidence: On Thursday, September 21, 2017, the licensing inspector observed the center transporting two school age children from an elementary school. One of the two children was using a booster/safety seat, the other child was seat belted but also required a booster seat. The vehicle used today to transport children did not have a list of the children's names being transport or the center's name, address, phone number or emergency numbers.

Plan of Correction: Per Center: The vehicle used to transport children will have a binder which will include all required information. All children under the age of eight years will be in the required safety seat.
