Discussed the new classroom arrangements and updates to the current license. The center will be licensed for children 3 years through school age. With classroom renovations, the total capacity of the center may require an adjustment after calculations have been made by the inspector. Two classrooms have been converted to enrichment rooms.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30am-12:00pm. At the time of inspection, 36 children (3 years through five years) were directly supervised by 7 staff and ratios were in compliance. The sample size consisted of 5 children records and 6 staff records including the new center director. Children were observed completing a cooking project (fruit salad), playing with tabletop manipulatives, and growing vegetables and other plants in the new green house building. Hand washing procedures were also observed before and after having a snack. There was an abundant supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. During the inspection, new classroom arrangements were measured. The center was recently renovated including a new partition, sinks and the removal of diaper changing stations. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, equipment inside the center was not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: In the school age classroom, a foosball table was observed with cracked, splintered wood around one of the handles creating a possible pinch point. Plan of Correction: We will place an additional work order to have the foosball table repaired.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation, food brought from home was not clearly dated and labeled in a way that identified the owner. Evidence: In the preschool classroom, a plastic bag of snack mix was found in the cubbies. The bag was not labeled with the child's name or date. Plan of Correction: We will send out a memo to parents to remind them to label snacks from home.
