A Subsidy and Health inspection was conducted on October 18, 2017 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. Upon arrival at approximately 10:30am, the LI verified 51 children present. The children were grouped in 4 classrooms. Each classroom was staffed in ratio: 7/2 staff (toddlers); 16/3 staff (2's); 13/2 staff (3's); and 15/2 staff (pre-K). In the afternoon, 51 children arrived from school. The children were observed during free play, outdoor play, lunch, nap time, afternoon snack and dismissal at the end of the program day. Staff were observed interacting with the children. The LI observed staff reading to the children in the two-year old classroom. Records were reviewed for children and staff. Documentation of the Center's annual health and fire inspections was current. Children's medications and allergy action plans were reviewed. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations found during the subsidy and health inspection are identified on the violation notice. Findings were reviewed at exit. If you have any questions, please call (540)09-2310. Standard #: VENDSUB-000-031-B-3 Description: Based on review of the Center's written emergency preparedness plan, the lock down procedures do not address all required components. Evidence: The reviewed written lock down procedures did not include the following: (3.a. - b.) methods to alert staff, methods to secure the facility and designated lockdown location, accommodations or special requirements for infants, toddlers, and children with special needs to ensure their safety during lockdown, and procedures to address reuniting children with parents or authorized person designated by the parent to pick up the child. (4.) staff training requirement, drill frequency, and plan review and update, and (5) other special procedures developed with local authorities. Plan of Correction: The Program Director will revise the lockdown procedures to include all required information. The revised plan will be reviewed with all staff.
