The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection, at which play groups, art time, story time, centers, group time, lunch time, and rest time were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Forty-nine (49) children, aged 2.5 years-5 years, were found to be in care with 7 staff, kitchen staff, and administrative staff. Previous violations were reviewed, and had been corrected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on review of staff records the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to proof of education. Evidence: Staff record #1, hire date 8/2/17, did not have proof of education for the position held. Staff record #2, hire date 5/15/17, did not have proof of education for the position held. Plan of Correction: Proof of education will be obtained and placed in the record. Staff records will continue to be reviewed for compliance.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observations of diapering the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to hand washing. Evidence: Diapering of the 2.5yr-3yr class was observed by the LI during the inspection. Staff did not wash the hands of the female child after diapering as required. Plan of Correction: The staff member was reminded about the diapering procedures and requirements after diapering. All other staff will be reminded as to the procedures and requirements as well.
