Technical Assistance:
Discussed inspection notices being posted and sign in/out procedures for children.

Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 12:25pm and 4:00pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 102 children with 15 staff. A total of 5 children?s files and 5 staff files were reviewed. The children were observed napping, playing outside, arriving from school and other organized activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A
Description: Based on observation, children's information was not kept confidential. Evidence: There is an allergy list post in the JK A classroom that contains children's first and last name along with a picture and food allergies; this information is not covered or hidden from the public.

Plan of Correction: Allergy list was covered during inspection and reviewed confidentiality policy with all staff.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on record review, staff records did not contain all required information. Evidence: Staff #2 file was missing documentation of two references.

Plan of Correction: References have been obtained and are currently on file.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-G
Description: Based on observation and interview, substitute containers for hazardous substances were not labeled to indicate their contents. Evidence: At the time of the inspection, there was an unlabeled clear spray bottle with a liquid inside. The teacher in the classroom confirmed that it was a cleaning substance in the spray bottle.

Plan of Correction: Removed bottle from classroom during inspection and reviewed with staff the importance of labeling all bottles.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-A
Description: Based on observation, one child was not provided with a bottom sheet during nap time. Evidence: Child #6 was observed napping and did not have a bottom sheet.

Plan of Correction: Center has reviewed with all staff the policy on bedding at naptime. Center will ensure all cots are covered appropriately.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F
Description: Based on observation, the PM snack being served at the time of the inspection did not match the PM snack that was posted on the menu. Evidence: The menu posted indicated that bagels and cream cheese would be, however during the inspection townhouse crackers and oranges were being served to the children.

Plan of Correction: Center reviewed with cook and managers that when there is a change to what is being served, center will post all changes to menu in the lobby where easily observed by parents.
