Comments:
Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 12:00pm and 4:00pm. At the start of the inspection there were a total of 65 children with 11staff; good rations in all 7 classrooms. A total of 5 children?s files and 5staff files were reviewed as well as medications, fire drill logs and emergency preparedness plans. The children were observed finishing lunch, napping, pottying and starting to go home at the end of the day. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-D
Description: Based on observation, cleaning and sanitizing materials were stored above single-serve food equipment. Evidence: There was a soap refill bag stored above single-serve cups, plates and utensils in the Two's classroom.

Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection. We'll discuss this during our next training.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-370-1
Description: Based on observation, an infant was not placed on their back when laid to rest. Evidence: At nap time, Child #1 was laid down on their tummy to rest in the Infant C classroom.

Plan of Correction: We will discuss proper sleeping habits with the staff.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-450-A
Description: Based on observation, a child did not have a top linen to use during rest time. Evidence: A child in the Two's classroom was observed napping without a top blanket.

Plan of Correction: The child had a blanket in another classroom. It was brought to him during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation, proper hand washing was not implemented. Evidence: During the inspection a staff member in Preschool I was observed helping a child on the potty with gloves on. The staff member did not wash her hands when she was finished helping the child.

Plan of Correction: We will have a discussion about proper hand washing procedures.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A
Description: Based on observation, medication was kept on-site without written parental authorization to administer. Evidence: Child #7 had a prescription medication on-site for a food allergy; there was no medication authorization available.

Plan of Correction: The parents will fill out the form tonight.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A
Description: Based on observation, over-the-counter skin products were kept beyond their expiration date. Evidence: Child #3 have a one diaper cream that expired 10/2017 and another that expired 11/2017. Child #6 had a diaper cream that expired 11/2017.

Plan of Correction: The expired creams will be given to the parents tonight.
