Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, January 10, 2018 from 10:45am-12:30pm. There were 43 children directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed preparing to go outside, checking in and out from outdoor play, participating in spanish class, and reading books. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the bathroom closest to the sea turtle room, there is an unlocked upper cabinet which contained disinfectant wipes.

Plan of Correction: The disinfectants were moved to a different cabinet and the upper cabinet was locked.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all food containers were labeled with the date. Evidence: Two lunch boxes observed were labeled with the child's name but not the date.

Plan of Correction: The lunch boxes were labeled with the date during inspection.
