- Technical Assistance:
Consultation was provided to the Family Development Specialist (FDS) regarding written parental/physician authorizations for the administration of medication. Clarification was provided regarding short term/long term authorization.
An unannounced Renewal inspection was conducted in the center on January 22, 2018. There were 14 children present with 2 staff members supervising the children's activities. Per staff report, 16 children are currently enrolled. A prescribed medication was observed in the center. Three staff members have completed medication administration training (MAT). The children were observed during varied activities to include: individual selected centers, outdoor play, the lunch meal, and dismissal at the end of the program day. Staff were engaged with the children. Two additional support staff were also present in the center to assist with the lunch meal and administrative duties. A sample of 5 children's records was reviewed. Documentation of the center's annual fire and health inspections was current. Several of the center's policies and procedures were reviewed. The center was maintained clean and orderly. Age appropriate supplies and materials were available to the children. Findings were reviewed with the Lead Teacher at exit. The on-site inspection was conducted from approximately 10:50am to 1:15pm. A record review was conducted on January 24, 2018 at the central office. Four complete staff records were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-J Description: Based on staff report and documentation reviewed at the time of the inspection, documentation to verify that the center's injury prevention procedures were updated at least annually was not available for review. Evidence: Documentation of the annual review of the injury prevention procedures was dated for the time period of 08/2015 to 08/2016, with a completion date of October, 2016 noted. Plan of Correction: The Health Supervisor has completed the annual review of all documented injuries and the injury prevention plan, no revisions were needed at the review. The final review has gone out to all sites and is available for inspection.
