Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted during the morning program on February 27, 2018. Upon arrival to the program, the children were observed in the school cafeteria eating lunch. The Licensing Inspector observed 30 children and 4 staff present. Reportedly, one additional child had been in attendance earlier that morning but had been signed out and left with their parent. The children's ages ranged from 3 to 5 years. After the lunch meal, the children were observed in their classrooms. There were 14 children/2 staff in classroom A. and 16 children/2 staff in classroom B. The LI observed the children during the lunch meal, a teacher-directed activity, child-selected center play, preparation for nap/rest time. Dismissal procedures were observed as a child left with their parents prior to the end of the program day. Hand washing procedures after lunch were observed in one classroom. Staff were engaged with the children. Reportedly, 34 children are currently enrolled in the program. A sample of 5 children's records was reviewed. Complete staff records were previously reviewed for the 10/02/17 inspection. Documentation of the annual fire and health inspections was current. A prescribed medication was observed for one child, written authorizations for long-term administration was on file. Other areas observed/reviewed during this inspection included: documentation of practiced emergency drills, several center policies, physical plant and emergency supplies. A discussion was held with staff in classroom A. and the Center Lead Teacher regarding sound supervision during bathroom breaks. The door leading from the child's classroom to the bathroom area shall remain open whenever a child is using the bathroom. The inspection was conducted from approximately 10:20am to 12:30pm.
