22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:15am-12:45pm. There were 150 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 27 staff. The physical plant, 10 staff records, 10 children?s records, 2 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, engaged in writing activities, math work, playing outside, and preparing for snack. Children were observed working both independently and with their teachers. Interactions between teachers and students were viewed to be positive. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas in the center were not kept in a safe condition. Evidence: In room 9 underneath the windowsill, there is a patch of peeling paint. Plan of Correction: We will have maintenance look into it.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure all hazardous materials were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence: In Room 4's bathroom, there was an unlocked upper cabinet there were disinfectant cleaning wipes. Plan of Correction: We will get a lock for the cabinet.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation, all infant bottles were not labeled with the child's name and date. Evidence: In the infant room, several bottles were labeled with children's names and some with dates but not both a name and date. Plan of Correction: We will ensure bottles are labeled with a name and date.
