Comments:
An unannounced afternoon inspection was conducted from 335- 450 PM. There were 25 children present with 2 staff and all of the children and staff were outside with the kids. The Inspector observed the staff outside and interviewed staff about special care provisions, program, and new enrollments. A new CS was present today and available to answer questions. Children's files and staff files were reviewed and deemed current. The Emergency Drills were also reviewed and up-to-date. Please call with questions 703-479-4679

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the inside is not maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: 1. Inspector walked in the building from the playground and observed a broken floor tile on the steps and observed the chipping and hanging, peeling paint from various stairs. These steps were directly above the flight of stairs the children walk up.

Plan of Correction: I will let my supervisor know so we can get an action plan. We have been telling maintenance staff about the paint

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B
Description: Based on observation, the center does not have sufficient resilient surfacing under the swings to create a fall safe zone. Evidence: 1. Program is not located in a public school building. 2. Playground has 6 swings and all 6 do not have sufficient resilient surfacing. The fall zone directly under the swing is shallow ground and comprises of dirt and small amount of mulch. The resilient surfacing is in the front and back of the swings.

Plan of Correction: Tell custodians and tell our supervisor. We will also use a rake as a community project.
