An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 12, 2018 from approximately 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. Three staff were present with forty-two children at the onset of inspection. Children were observed playing large group games in the gymnasium, doing homework in the cafeteria and eating a snack.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on review, facility did not ensure center's procedures for administering medication includes written authorization from parent and written long term authorization from a physician. Evidence: On April 12, 2018, review of medication log for child #4 states Albuterol was administered on December 20, 2017. The long term physician authorization expired July 7, 2016. Plan of Correction: The Center Supervisor will make sure all medication administration paperwork from physicians and parents are up to date.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on review, facility did not ensure medication is returned to parent within 14 days of the authorization expiring or parent renewing the authorization. Evidence: On April 12, 2018, Albuterol and Epipen were stored for child #3 and the medication authorization expired July 7, 2016. Plan of Correction: The Center Supervisor will make sure all medication administration paperwork from physicians and parents are up to date or medications are returned to parents within the appropriate timeframe.
