Technical Assistance:
A discussion was held with the director regarding having the non-medical emergency supplies together and to be easily accessible. I also informed the director to be on the look out for an email on the new Central Registry System procedures.

Comments:
Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted between 1:45-3:30. There were 17 children with 1staff member on site. Staff records, training records, children?s files, physical space and emergency preparedness items were reviewed today. The children were observed doing homework, eating snack, and various table top activities. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-I
Description: Based on record review the center failed to develop written procedures for injury prevention. Evidence: There was no injury prevention plan available the day of the inspection.

Plan of Correction: I will review the accident/incidents reports and develop a plan over the summer.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on review of children's records, it is determined that 1/5 records were not complete. Evidence: Child #1's record does not include a second emergency contact.

Plan of Correction: I will get the second emergency contact from mom.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-420-A
Description: Based on review of administrative documents, it is determined that the parents are not provided all required written information. Evidence: The current parent handbook does not include the following policy information: medication policy including a statement indicating that only MAT trained staff may administer medications to children; the school's sunscreen policy, and the school's insect repellent policy.

Plan of Correction: I will re-write the parent handbook over the summer and include the information necessary along with a parent sign off sheet.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-540-E
Description: Based on observation all nonmedical emergency supplies were not available during the inspection. Evidence: A working battery operated radio was not available the day of inpsection.

Plan of Correction: I will get the batteries necessary for our radio.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-N
Description: Based on observation children failed to remain seated while eating snack. Evidence: Children were observed walking from table to table while eating their snack.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure the children remain seated while eating snack.
