Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:45am to 1:30pm. 39 children were directly supervised by 6 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. The physical space, 5 children's records, 3 staff records, evacuation drills, the Emergency Preparedness Plan, the Injury Prevention Plan, attendance records and the menu were reviewed. Required documents were posted. Medications and medication management were reviewed. Previous violations were reviewed and had been brought into compliance. Children were observed in circle time, working with arts and crafts, washing hands for lunch and interacting with staff members. Interactions were positive. The space was organized and contained an abundance of age appropriate materials. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on medication review, two medications were expired. Evidence: Child #1 - Prescription medication expired March 2018. A new medication was present but the expired medication was not sent home. Over the counter medication expired September 2017. A new medication was present but the expired medication was not sent home. Both new and expired medications were stored together.

Plan of Correction: Administrator removed the expired medications from the storage container, and took them to the main office to be sent home today.
