Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:30am-1:30pm. There were 74 children directly supervised by 12 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 6 children?s records, 3 medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in eating lunch and preparing for nap time. Lunch served today was pasta primavera, salad, applesauce and milk. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all equipment was kept in a safe condition. Evidence: Between the toucans and cubs room, a play kitchen is a missing piece and has an exposed a hole. The hole causes a potential finger entrapment.

Plan of Correction: We will repair the hole.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3
Description: Based on observation, unused electrical outlets did not have a protective cover in place. Evidence: In the fox classroom, one extension chord in the back of the classroom had three unused electrical outlets with no protective covers in place.

Plan of Correction: Protective covers were placed at the time of inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation, children did not wash hands after eating lunch. Evidence: In the fox classroom, children were not observed washing hands after eating snack. After discarding of their lunches, children were asked to set up mats and prepare for nap time.

Plan of Correction: We will retrain hand washing procedures in all the classrooms.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on observation, one medication was not labeled with a child's name. Evidence: The facility had a medication for Child A which was not labeled with their name.

Plan of Correction: The medication was labeled right away.
