An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on May 4 2018 between 8:45am and 11:15am. There were 57 children in the direct care of 13 staff members. Children were observed eating breakfast, completing puzzles, having tummy time, napping, and playing on the playground. Areas of non-compliance are listed on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-G Description: Based on observation, a hazardous substance that was not kept in an original container, was not clearly labeled identifying their contents. Plan of Correction: Violation was corrected at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-J Description: Based on observation all medications were not locked using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: Medication in the Little Penguins classroom was in an elevated cabinet, but was not locked. Plan of Correction: Violation was corrected at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-A Description: Based on observation, a nonprescription drug was not used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Evidence: An over-the-counter tooth gel only had an authorization completed by the parent. The medication states that for children under the age of 2 years, a physician must be consulted. There was no documentation from a physician with instructions for the chile. Plan of Correction: Violation was corrected at the time of inspection.
