An unannounced subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 05/10/2018 from 11:20am - 3:25pm. At the time of the tour there were 33 children in care with eight staff. The children ranged in age from infant - four years. Children were observed during morning program time, lunch and nap. Records were reviewed for eight children and seven staff. Three medication reviews conducted. A renewal inspection was additionally conducted as this program is a licensed child day center. The violation is listed on the violation notice and was reviewed with the program director at the conclusion of the inspection.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E-2 Description: Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff have current certification in first aid within 30 days of employment.
1. Staff 1 has a hire date of 04/02/2018 and was observed caring for children during the inspection.
2. There is no documentation on file to verify that this individual has current certification in first aid.
Plan of Correction: Staff 1 has stated that she has obtained first aid certification however, she can not locate her card at this time. Staff 1 is going to contact the trainer to verify that first aid was included in her CPR training. Her CPR certification is on file at the center. If however, she needs to take a first aid class - this will be obtained on May 17th . We have a class scheduled for this time.
