An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 12:35 p.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. There were seven children in care ranging in age from two years to five years of age with two staff. There was one parent and two year old child participating in the mother-child program. Children were observed during transition time after lunch and during outside play that included imagination play and sandbox play. Lunch is brought from home. Childcare areas were observed. Three children's records and two staff records were reviewed. There are no medications on site. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-140-A Description: Based on review of documentation, the center failed to obtain documentation of a physical within thirty days of enrollment. Evidence: Child #2, enrolled 9/7/2016, did not have documentation of a physical in the file. Plan of Correction: The parent was contacted during the inspection for this documentation.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, not all potentially hazardous substances were kept in a locked place. Evidence: Two homeopathic medicines, a Citrus Magic Organic Air Freshener, Tea Tree Essential Oil and Greenway Organic Bug Spray were on a high shelf in the closet in the classroom. Plan of Correction: All items were placed in a lock box during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, not all electrical outlets were equipped with a protective cover. Evidence: On the far wall where the bookbags and jackets are hung, one outlet was not covered. Plan of Correction: The outlet was covered during the inspection.
