Comments:
The Licensing Inspector for the Kid Konnection Child Development Center conducted an unannounced Monitor Inspection on May 14, 2018. Upon arrival at 10:35 AM there were a total of twenty-six (26) children ages 5 months-5 years old were present under the direct care & supervision of six (6) caregivers. Licensing Inspector reviewed staff and children records (including medication records) during today?s inspection. LI Anderson observed children during rest/sleeping activity, bathroom/hand washing procedures, snack/meal served, group activities and self-initiated activities. Areas of non-compliance and the Risk Assessments found during today?s inspection were reviewed the Center. Inspection concluded at 2:10 PM. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on inspection, the Licensee failed to keep hazardous substances in a locked location using a sage locking method that prevents access by children. EVIDENCE: in the Infant Classroom, Licensing Inspector observed hazardous cleaning ages stored on a wall shelf (Apx 6 feet from the floor) in an unlocked closet. Latch-lock on the door was broke.

Plan of Correction: Closet lock was fixed. Corrected during inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N
Description: Based on medication record review, the Licensee failed to notify parent to pick-up medication when an authorization for medication expires. EVIDENCE: The extended medication authorization for Child #4 expired on 2/28/2018. Prescribed medication has not been returned to the child's parents.

Plan of Correction: Director will contact parents to update authorization form
