Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was completed today. The physical plant, annual fire and health inspection, 5 children's files, children's activities, medications, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected between 1:00- 2:40pm. There were 93 children under the supervision of 13 staff. The Childcare Program had 20 children under the supervision of 3 teachers and the Pre-school/After K Program had 73 children being supervised by 11 teachers. Today, the children worked on a craft project (Under the Sea themed), practiced singing their graduation songs, participated in circle time, listened to storytime, and rested during naptime . The interactions between the children and staff were seen to be positive and constructive in nature. The children bring in their lunches from home each day that they are in care. Afternoon snack being provided by the center is goldfish crackers or veggie straws and juice. Staff files are not reviewed on site, but during an annual administrative file review. There are 7 staff currently certified in MAT(medication administration training). Should you have any questions, please contact me at mary.wizbicki@dss.virginia.gov.
