The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection on 05/17/2018 from 10:42 am to 5:05 pm. The children were observed singing songs, playing with toys, listening to story time, playing outside, eating lunch and napping. The infants were observed having floor play and napping in cribs. A formal observation was completed with the two year old and four year old classrooms. Lunch consisted of ham and cheese on pita bread, carrots, mandarin oranges, and milk. The lunch menu was posted. Interviews were held with staff throughout the inspection, and the inspector interacted with children in each classroom when appropriate. All classrooms and playgrounds were inspected today. Six children?s records and six employee records were reviewed during this inspection. Medication is being administered and was reviewed. Ten injury reports were reviewed as well as the center?s injury prevention plan which was updated 3/30/2018 The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 05/11/2018 Last shelter-in-place drill: 03/27/2018 Last fire inspection: 08/11/2017 Last health inspection: 02/07/2018 The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today?s inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed an unlocked cleaning closet. Inside the cleaning closet, there were two bottles that contained chemicals for cleaning. One of those bottles contained bleach. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-290-3 Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that electrical outlets had protective covers. Evidence: 1. The three year old classroom and preschool playground both had an exposed outlet due to the tamper resistant receptacle not working properly. 2. Both exposed outlets were located on the lower part of the wall within the reach of children. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
