Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on May 23, 2018. The director was present. In the Infant/Toddler Room there were 8 children with 2 staff. Two of the infants were on the floor having tummy time. Six of the children were in high chairs having their morning snack of juice and crackers. In the Two/Three Year Old Room there were 18 children with 2 staff. The children were having music and movement. The Preschool Room included 10 children with 1 staff. The children were playing with toys. School age children were not present. Seven children's records were reviewed. Documentation of emergency drills had been completed. Inspection began: 9:50 Inspection ended: 12:00

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevented access by children. Evidence: A laundry basket of cleaning supplies was on top of the lockers at the front area of the center. The basket was out of reach of children, but was not locked.

Plan of Correction: The basket of cleaners will be moved to the office which is kept locked.

Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that medication, except for those prescriptions designated otherwise by written physician's orders, including refrigerated medication and staff's personal medication, was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: A bottle of over the counter medication (generic medicine for upset stomach) was sitting on the front desk at the entrance of the center.

Plan of Correction: The medication was moved to the locked area during the inspection.

Description: Based on observation, the center did not have a current menu posted. Evidence: The menu posted was dated February.

Plan of Correction: A current menu will be posted.
