Technical Assistance:
Today we discussed the use of balanced mixed-age groupings of children in Montessori Programs. Also discussed today was the availability of USDA Food Program resources which can be obtained on line if the program chooses to provide snacks or meals to children in care. Please keep an eye on the S-hooks at the bottom of the swings. They must be closed so that a penny cannot be inserted in the opening.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 5/29/2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. At the time of entrance the program was utilizing balanced mixed age grouping in the preschool classroom. There were 14 children ranging in age from 3 to 6 years old observed in a classroom with one staff. Additional staff were close by and available to assist. A second staff is normally scheduled in the preschool classroom but was absent due to an unexpected situation today. The records sample size consisted of 5 children?s records and (all) 4 staff records for the licensed program. Children were observed eating lunch which is brought to school each day from the children's homes. Some children were eating lunch delivered from a local restaurant which parents could opt to buy in advance. Food service, hand washing, free choice activities and rest period were observed. Medication administration was not observed. The administrator stated that there are no enrolled children currently being administered at this time and that there have been no accidents or injuries requiring first aid or medical attention since the last inspection. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
