Child Day Center licensing standard 22 VAC 40-185-270.D. states fans or other cooling systems shall be used when the temperature of inside areas occupied by children exceeds 80?F. Classroom temperatures taken during the inspection read above 80?F but the licensing inspector observed fans and portable air conditioning units being used in the classroom so the complaint was determined not to be valid.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced complaint inspection in response to a complaint regarding classroom temperatures that was received by the licensing department on 05/31/2018. The inspection was initiated and completed on 06/01/2018. On 06/01/2018, the inspector was on site from 10:40 AM to 4:10 PM. Interviews with staff were completed, observations were made in the center, and temperatures were taken in classrooms. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does not support the allegation; therefore, the complaint is determined to be not valid. There are no violations resulting from this inspection. If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector, Lynn Powers at (804) 662-9790.
