Background check requirments were reivewed.
Two inspectors conducted an unannounced inspection from 1:20 until 2:45. There were 32 children in care with staff maintaining ratio at all times. The director was also present. Five staff records and five children's records were reviewed. One medication and the corresponding paperwork was reviewed. Children were observed resting and walking to the playground to have snack and play. Violations are identified on the violation notice. Please call your inspector at 276-698-9981 with any questions.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center did not maintain the playground area in a safe condition. Evidence: 1. The inspectors observed most wooden surfaces on decks and equipment need to be sanded and painted and that the large climber deck has splinters and sharp points. A step is broken and splintered. Plan of Correction: The director has submitted an invoice for the work order for the repairs to be made.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-C Description: Based on observation, the center had "S" hooks that were open more than the thickness of a penny. Evidence: 1. The inspectors observed 4 of 4 "S" hooks open more than the thickness of a penny on the swing set. Plan of Correction: The director will get the "S" hooks closed.
