- Technical Assistance:
We discussed the requirements for medication. The risk assessment for a violation was provided.
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced monitoring inspection conducted from 11:20 AM to 5:25 PM. Today, there were one-hundred and eighty-four children, ages five through twelve, with eighteen staff. I viewed program activities, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, equipment, posted information, agency inspection, nutrition/menu, emergency supplies and drill records, medication, ten records for children, ten staff records, staff qualifications, staff training, behavioral guidance, and indoor areas. The children were transported for field trips on a school bus. We discussed transportation procedures. The outdoor activities were not observed due to inclement weather. Active play was in the gym and during trips to a sports club. The children enjoyed a variety of games, derby racing discussions, and a small derby car craft. Art from self-portraits was displayed. Staff have participated in training opportunities. Close supervision and regular head counts were practiced. Let me know if you have any questions. 540/430-9259
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on a review of medication for six children, and an interview with administrative staff, center staff failed to follow procedures to prevent the use of outdated medication. Evidence: A long-term medication for child 1M was accepted for use at the summer program and the last administration was recorded by staff in 2017 at a different Kid Central site. The expiration date on both the medication and the original box was stamped as April 2018. Plan of Correction: A staff person immediately contacted the parent and requested an updated medication for use at the summer program. In the future, the M.A.T. certified staff person who is assigned to oversee the medication will check and track the expiration dates of medication and make sure there is not a possibility of using outdated medication and that all center policies and procedures are followed.
A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.
The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information.
