An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, from approximately 9:45am until 2:45pm. The school age children were preparing to leave on a field trip to Echo Lake Park. On one van there were eleven children with two staff and on the second van there were thirteen children with one staff.
Infant Classroom: seven children with two staff - observed providing individualized care.
Toddler Classroom: eight children with two staff- Circle time was observed. The children were counting to ten, identifying colors and shapes, and singing the alphabet song.
Two's Classroom: fourteen children with two staff -These children were making Father's Day gifts.
Three's Classroom: sixteen children with two staff - The children were playing outside and returned to prepare for lunch.
Lunch: Noodles with pepperoni, mixed spinach salad with ranch dressing, pineapple and milk
A practice shelter-in-place drill was conducted 3/20/18.
A practice evacuation drill was conducted 5/28/18.
SIx staff records and six children's records were inspected.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on monitoring of the water temperature at sinks used by children, the center did not ensure the water temperature did not exceed 120 F. Evidence: The water temperature at the hand washing sink in the three year old classroom was 133 F. Plan of Correction: Per Center: Maintenance will be notified to correct the water temperature. Staff have been informed to monitor hand washing until this has been corrected.
