Discussed the construction and the need for informing the office for an inspection, before the new space can be occupied.
An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted on today's date. The center had 42 children in 5 groupings with 13 staff. The children were observed eating lunch, today they had sloppy joe's, burger , veggies and milk. The children also were observed having story time, playing outside and taking naps. Lots of interaction between children and staff observed during the visit. The center is in the process of adding an addition . The construction should be completed some time in the fall. The current space used for children are fenced and blocked off from the construction site. The construction site is viewable to the children in the pre school rooms and the children are watching the progress. This inspection was started at 10:30 and ended at 1:00. Please contact me at 703-203-8659 if you have any questions regarding this visit.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on the review of the outside space , the center has a space where the pour in place resilient surfacing is cut out and taped down. A broken plastic bin is left on the playground. Plan of Correction: The pour in place was removed when the construction company was looking for a pipe , during the construction of the new addition, it will be replaced by the construction company at the end of construction, we taped it down to keep it safe for the children. We always place a staff there to keep children safe. Plastic bin was removed during the visit.
