Thank you for your assistance during this unannounced monitoring inspection. This on-site inspection was conducted from 10:45 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. There were sixty-seven children in the care of thirteen staff. Six children's and six staff records were reviewed and updated. No medication is being administered at this time. Ares of non-compliance may be found on the violation notice. Areas observed were: free choice play, puzzles, educational activities, hand washing/diapering and bathroom procedures, infant feeding, lunch and nap. Interactions between the children and staff were observed as positive and the children seem comfortable with the daily routine and schedule. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on record review, the center failed to obtain an annual health inspection. Evidence: 1. The most recent health inspection was reviewed. It was conducted on May 3. 2017. 2. The director confirmed an annual health inspection had not been conducted since May 3, 2017. Plan of Correction: I will contact the health department to schedule an inspection. The inspection will be sent to the licensing inspector.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation staff failed to wash one infants hands after changing their diaper. Evidence: 1. One infant was observed during a diaper change. 2. The staff put the infant back into the highchair and did not wash his hands. 3. Staff confirmed they did not wash the infants hands. Plan of Correction: Hand washing procedures will be reviewed with all staff.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation and discussion with the staff, the center failed to label and date one child's bottle of refrigerated formula. Evidence: 1. Five bottles were in the infant room refrigerator. 2. One bottle was not labeled and dated. 3. Staff confirmed the bottle was not labeled and dated. Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded all infant bottles with formula need to be labeled with the child's name and dated.
