An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today 7/10/2018 beginning at 9:45 A.M. and ending at 12:40 pm. There were fifty seven children present today with seven staff. The inspector reviewed five children's and six staff's records during the inspection. The children were observed during: free play, outside time, lunch and game time. Discussion with site director about: sunscreen authorization form, injury form with parent method of notification and time of notification.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that all chemicals were locked. Evidence: 1. Observed on a cart in the cafeteria a spray bottle of bleach water. The chemical sat on the cart unlocked during lunch. Plan of Correction: The director will remove the chemical and will remind staff to lock it after use.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of six staff records, the center failed to ensure that all CPS (child protective service ) check was returned within 30 days of hire. Evidence: 1. Staff # 5 and 6 did not have a returned CPS check on the day of the inspection. Staff # 5 and 6 was hired on 5/19/2018. There was no documentation that contact was made with the CPS background office. Plan of Correction: The site director will resubmit the CPS check for both checks and will monitor all dates.
