Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:00am- 1:10pm. Upon arrival there were 72 children in care with 13 staff present. A sample of 2 staff and 8 children's records were reviewed. Children were observed cleaning up for lunch and during rest time. School-age children were observed watching a movie and infants were observed playing with staff on the floor. There were no children with food allergies at the time of inspection.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-B
Description: While the inspector was sitting in the director's office she heard a staff member in a classroom say to a child loudly, "I don't want to hear you cry. Sit down." The Assistant Director confirmed it was staff #2 talking to child #8.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director during the exit interview: The director will talk to staff #2 about behavioral guidance and how to better handle challenging behaviors in the classroom.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-C
Description: Based on interview with infant staff, the center did not ensure the record for each infant on formula contained all required information. Evidence: The center did not have written documentation of the brand of each formula each infant eats.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director during the exit interview: Infant staff will create a record of each infant on formula to include all requried information, including brand.
