Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review and interview, the center is unable to follow directions provided by the parents on a child's enrollment record. Evidence: Child #2 and Child #5 records state that they both have food allergies. Child #5 has an allergy action plan on file that states if the child were to have an allergic reaction to administer medication. The center does not have medication on site for Child #2 or Child #5. Plan of Correction: I will talk to the parents about either providing the medication or having health forms updated that do not reflect the need for medication.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-210-A Description: Based on record review and interview, a lead teacher does not meet the qualifications of a program leader. Evidence: One the day of the inspection Staff #3 (date of hire: 7/9/2018) was observed leading the Toddler program. The program owner confirmed that Staff #3 is the lead teacher of the Toddler program. Staff #3 does not possess the education or experience to be leading the program. Plan of Correction: She is only here for the summer. She will be leaving next week to go back to school.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, areas of he center were not maintained in a safe, clean and operable condition. Evidence: 1. The toilet seat in the Two's classroom is broken and slides back and forth. 3. There is a sensory table on the back playground that has been covered with a tarp. There is a large pool of sitting water that has been sitting on top of the sensory table long enough for tadpoles to have hatched. 2. There is excessive amounts of rust on the climbing structures of the large playground where the children would put their hands to climb. Plan of Correction: A maintenance request will be submitted. I can dump the water on the playground now. There has been so much rain this summer that maintenance has not been able to work on the playgrounds.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, staff are unable to dispose of a diaper without using their hands. Evidence: The petal on the foot operated trash can in the infant classroom is broken. The staff must use their hands to lift the lid of the trash can to dispose of wet/soiled diapers. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection.
