22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.
A complaint investigation was initiated due to an allegation of ratios not being followed the morning of 8/17/18. During the investigation attendance sheets were viewed and a staff interview took place. There were two violations cited as a result of the complaint and the complaint was deemed valid. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-C Complaint related: No Description: Based on the inspector's review of the attendance list and staff interview, the center failed to have a second staff member present when one or more children were in care. Evidence: According to attendance lists there were two children in care at 6am at the time of opening the center and six children were in care by 6:40. One staff member was alone in the building until two staff arrived at 6:40am. Plan of Correction: A second staff member is on schedule to arrive at the time the building is opened. The schedules have been adjusted to add additional staff to be present in the morning.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-C Complaint related: No Description: Based on the inspector's review of child attendance records and staff interviews, the center failed to maintain ratio applicable to the youngest child in care. Evidence: The morning of 8/17/18 there was one staff member present at the center from 6am until 6:40 when two additional staff arrived. The staff member had a total of six children to include two infants as of 6:40am. The required ratio when infants are present in the group is one staff member for every four children. Plan of Correction: The center had one staff member arrive late the was on schedule to arrive as opening. The center will adjust staff schedules to add additional staff in the morning.
