An unannounced renewal inspection was done today 8/29/2018 beginning at 3 P.M. and ending at 5 P.M . There were 54 children present today. The children were observed today during arrival, gym time, table games, afternoon snack and homework. During the inspection six children's and seven staff's records were reviewed. Discussion with site director: program leader training and documentation, and documentation for records
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B Description: Based on review of the most recent health inspection the center failed to ensure that an annual inspection was completed. Evidence: 1. The most recent inspection was completed on 8/2/2017. Plan of Correction: The director stated that the health inspector has not been around yet. She will obtain a copy from the school once she arrives.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of emergency drills, the center failed to ensure that all required drills were conducted. Evidence: 1. In 2017 only one shelter in place drill was conducted on March 17, 2017. Plan of Correction: The director has already completed 2018's shelter in places drills for the year. In the future all drills will be conducted and documented.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of seven staff's records, the center failed to ensure that all CPS checks were obtained within the 30 days hire the hire date. Evidence: 1. Staff # 6 was hired on 4/30/2018 and staff # 7 was hired on 4/18/2018 and the CPS was returned 7/23/2018 and there was no documentation in the records that contact was made with the OBI (office of background investigations). Plan of Correction: In the future all documentation and returned backgrounds will be kept in the staff's records.
