An announced initial inspection was conducted on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 from 12:00pm to 2:10pm. There were no children in care during this inspection as the center has not yet opened for child day care purposes. The inspector met with the program director and a board officer. The center consists of three classrooms, a nap room and a library that will serve children from two and a half years old to six and a half years old. The center shares space with a local church. The site also has a designated outside play area that is adjacent to the center. The classrooms are equipped with age appropriate furniture and a variety of toys and learning materials. The center will provide meals and snacks prepared by a local agency. Medication will not be administered. Transportation is not provided. Emergency supplies were inspected and emergency documents were posted. The center has submitted all of the required application materials at this time. During the inspection, compliance with some standards could not be determined since the center is not yet in operation. Compliance with these standards will be determined during unannounced visits once the program is in operation. Though some standards of care could not be determined during the initial study, the center is in substantial compliance with the standards that could be determined. A six-month conditional license is recommended. During the conditional period, the center will be subject to unannounced licensing inspections, with the first inspection taking place within the first sixty days of licensure. If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact your licensing inspector, Roshon Casey, at (804) 662-9760.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Description: Based on observation on 08/21/2018, the center did not ensure that a menu listing foods to be served for meals and snacks during the current one-week period shall be posted. EVIDENCE: 1. The center will provide meals and snacks for the children in care. 2. A menu was not posted. Plan of Correction: Have sample menus on computer. Will make sure they are posted.
