An initial licensing inspection was conducted, by appointment, on August 27, 2018 between the hours of approximately 10:15 a.m. and 1:10 p.m. The program was not in operation on this date and no children were observed to be in care. The facility and outdoor playground areas were toured. The classrooms were observed to be clean and supplied with a variety of age/stage appropriate play and learning materials/toys. Applicable policies, procedures, reports and records were reviewed and required posted information was discussed/observed. Safety equipment was examined for compliance, including a first aid kit, emergency supplies and a flashlight. Follow-up was completed on September 6, 2018 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Staff and children's records, as well as final policies, references, credit reference, criminal history/fingerprinting results for one applicant/agent and agency reports were reviewed. Classrooms were viewed, water temperature measured, posted information was observed and a battery-operated radio was observed. As discussed, it is understood that the playground equipment will not be used by the children until adequate resilient surfacing has been installed under/surrounding all climbing equipment and equipment with moving parts. Thank you for your time and assistance during the inspection process. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this inspection. It is evident that much thought, effort and planning have gone into the renovation of the building, establishment of the program and the set-up of the classroom environments. A recommendation will be made for the issuance of a Conditional child day center license. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
