22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:00am - 11:30am. Upon arrival there were 43 children in care with 13 staff present. A sample of 2 staff and 4 children's records were reviewed. The center did not have any medications at the time of inspection nor where any children in care with diagnosed food allergies. Children were observed during art, centers and on the playground on the equipment and riding tricycles.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a record review the center did not ensure all required information was kept in each staff person's record. Evidence: Staff #2 (hired 09/18/18) did not have documentation of a job title. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the program director: The director printed out staff #2's job description which included the title of Teacher Assistant. It was placed in her file during the inspection. During the inspection the director documented ALL staff job titles on the outsides of each record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-I Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure all personal articles were individually assigned. Evidence: In the school age room there was a tube of Vaseline lip balm on the activity table. It was not labeled to identify it for individual use. Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the Program Director during the exit interview: The lip balm was removed during the inspection. The director is sure it belonged to a staff member. Management will ensure it is labeled.
