22VAC40-185 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.

Today we discussed outside time daily weather and air quality, cot spacing and written permission to transport.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 12noon through 1:15pm. There were 14 children in care with three staff and one specialist present. Children's records and staff emergency contact information was reviewed. Staff records are stored at a central location and will be reviewed at a later date. Children were observed in teacher and self-directed activities including lunch, transitions, hand washing, restroom routines and nap. A single violation regarding care and protection was identified and appears on the violation notice.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on observation and interview when supervising children the center failed to demonstrate care and protection. Evidence: 1 - Liquid sanitized was sprayed on child 1 while the child was on her nap cot which was located less than six inches from the table. a. Child 1 stated that the spray landed on her. Holding out her hand child 1 said "hey it sprayed by me." b. When child 1 was asked if the spray landed on her, child 1 responded yes. Plan of Correction: Center management and staff will ensure that children are not within range of sanitizer spray before the tables are sprayed.
