The subsidy requirements will soon be rolled into the Minimum Standards.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 33 children in care, with a total of 7 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. Children's records, new staff records, new staff training, background checks, the physical plant, children's medications, classroom programming, and emergency preparedness items were inspected today. The children were observed eating lunch from home, engaging in creative play activities, and interacting with staff members. This inspection was completed between approximately 11:30am and 1:20pm. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-A Description: Based on a review of children's health records, it was determined that one record is not complete. Evidence: Child record C does not include an immunization record. Plan of Correction: The parent will be reminded to bring the completed shot record.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that one record was not complete. Evidence: Child record A does not include documentation to show that a staff member has viewed the child's original proof of identification. Plan of Correction: I will ask the parent to bring the birth certificate again.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on a review of new staff training, it was determined that two staff have not completed all required components. Evidence: Staff B and C have not completed all required components of First Day Orientation training. Plan of Correction: They will both complete the Recognizing Abuse and Neglect training, and document the complete orientation training.
Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on a review of new staff records, it was determined that one required background check has not been completed. Evidence: The file for staff B indicates that she has resided outside of the state of VA within the past 5 years. Management staff have not requested an out of state search of the central registry for the state in which she resided. Plan of Correction: I will submit the out of state request and send documentation to my Inspector within 10 days.
