Technical Assistance:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on September 24, 2018 from approximately 10:15 AM to 1:30 PM to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The director was present for the inspection. The following staff to child ratios were observed: 2 year olds 2:4, Toddlers 1:5, Younger 3 years olds 1:3, Older 3 year olds 2:5, Younger 4 year olds 3:15, Older 4 year olds 2:15, Preschool 2:3. Staff were observed to be interacting with children appropriately. Children bring their own lunch from home. A snack is provided by the facility. All areas of the facility including classrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, hallways, buses and playground were inspected. The facility had the following posted: license, last inspection, evacuation maps/procedures, daily schedule, menu, and various parent information. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed. Allergy postings and medications were reviewed. There were several staff present with medication administration training and daily health observation training. All staff present had current First Aid and CPR certifications. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The last evacuation drill was conducted on 8/21/2018. The last shelter-in-place drill was conducted on 02/16/2018. Health Inspection: 12/6/2017. Fire Inspection: 12/21/2017. Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevented access by children. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed cleaning chemicals located in two unlocked cabinets and on a counter top during the inspection. Hazardous substances are required to be kept in a locked place that prevents access by children.

Plan of Correction: Management will move all cleaning chemicals to locked areas this day and will speak to all staff to ensure that hazardous materials are stored in a locked area.

Description: Based on record review, the facility did not ensure that the emergency preparedness plan contained all the required procedural components. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed that the facility's emergency preparedness plan did not contain the plan review and update components. The emergency preparedness plan shall contain procedural components for the plan review and update.

Plan of Correction: Management will review and update the facility's emergency preparedness plan annually.
