An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 3:30pm-4:30pm. There were 57 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff training records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed arriving to the program, eating a snack of muffins and milk, and transitioning to outdoor play. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Kara Wright at email@example.com or 703-537-6241.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review, the center did not administer medication in a manner consistent with the manufacturer's directions. Evidence: Child 2 (age 9) was administered 3 teaspoons of liquid ibuprofen on 9/18/2018 and 9/20/2018 in accordance with a parental medication authorization. The manufacturer's directions state that a correct dosage for a 9 year old is 2.5 teaspoons. Dosage directions from the manufacturer must be followed unless a physician directs otherwise. Plan of Correction: We will ask the parent to either take the medication home, lower to the required dosage, or have the parent acquire a directive from the child's pediatrician.
