Discussed organization of curriculum materials and storage within bathrooms.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:20am to 11:20am. 44 children were directly supervised by 8 staff members. The physical space, 4 staff records, 6 children's records, evacuation drills, attendance, emergency supplies, medications and required posted documents were reviewed. Children were observed eating bagels, cream cheese and milk for morning snack. Classrooms contained an abundance of age appropriate materials. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the space was not kept in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: Exposed screws were observed at the base of toilets in 2 out of the 4 bathrooms in the School Age and Preschool rooms, presenting an unsafe condition. Plan of Correction: We will cap the screws right away.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review, the procedure for the Medical Authorization form was not in compliance. Evidence: The Medical Authorization form for Child #1 expired 08/2018. Plan of Correction: We will ask the parents to obtain the updated form from their doctor right away.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on staff statement and record evaluation, the center did not implement a monthly evacuation drill. Evidence: The evacuation drill logs were incomplete. No documentation was available for the months of August and September. Plan of Correction: The drills were completed but we failed to document. We will make sure to enter the information to ensure proper documentation in the future.
